Shortcut for settings dialog

I don't know about Windows and Linux but on MacOS there is a convention for settings dialogs to have a shortcut Cmd+, (comma). According to issue #4 this was once implemented but it is now gone, which is very annoying as you now have to scout the menu's and it isn't in the "Edit" menu where most apps put there preferences menu item.

So not sure if this is gone because of a bug or if this was once removed on purpose but this should be there.

No Settings-shortcut in Insonmnia 12.3.1 on MacOS.

Hi,

On MacOS, the standard shortcut for preferences is (command + ,), and this should open insomnia -> Preferences. It's working as expected on my side in the latest version.

Are you trying to open the main preferences or something else?

Could you check -

1. Go to Settings -> Keyboard Shortcuts and confirm there isn't a custom shortcut overriding command+, for insomnia.
2. Let me know what happens when you use the shortcut (nothing happens, or a different window opens, etc..)
3. That insomnia is the active application when using the shortcut.

No override. This works as expected in any other application I just tried (Finder, Mail, Calendar, Google Chrome, MS Teams).

Could it be related to my keyboard layout (Belgian-dot, AZERTY)?

I just found these shortcuts are configurable in the app. Other shortcuts (eg. cmd+shift+comma) do work but the default shortcut to open preferences doesn't. Also, I added a second keybinding to "Show App Preferences" and that does work. Removing and re-mapping the cmd+comma keybinding doesn't work however.

Insomnia also displays the shortcut when I hover the Preferences button in the bottom right:

So I guess it must be something local on my computer that intercepts the shortcut before Insomnia can act on it. Feel free to close this discussion if you agree.

If anyone has any clue on how to find the "interceptor", let me know...
